Video Games Industry Criticizes UK Gaming Degrees

Lots of people are excited about video games and besides playing them, there is a major segment of the crowd who wants to make games. In fact, the games industry too wants talented individuals who are skilled to do the appropriate tasks. Many British universities had come up with courses that were suited for the individuals wanting to work in the video games industry.

But according to a Daily Mail report, executives in the video games industry are questioning the gaming degrees offered by the universities in the United Kingdom as they feel that it fails to prepare the students for work. The major companies in the UK are complaining that these courses are not only short of vital computing math and art skills but also animation skills.

Jamie MacDonald from Sony and Frontier Development’s David Braben are two of the gaming company executives who have expressed their dislike towards such courses. Only four courses have been approved by Skillset, but there are more than eighty such degrees being offered in the United Kingdom as the number has doubled in the last thirty-six months.
