Spore Sells More Than A Million Copies, Says EA

Spore was supposed to do well and Electronic Arts had anticipated that the game would do well. It was one of the eagerly awaited games of this year. Now EA has sent word that worldwide Spore has sold more than a million copies at retail, on the PC, Mac and the Nintendo DS platforms.

Spore Million Sold

Lucy Bradshaw is the VP of Maxis. She is also the executive producer of Spore. Bradshaw says, “We are humbled by how quickly the community has taken to the creativity tools in Spore. It is amazing to see the sheer imagination represented in the hundreds of thousands of creatures, vehicles and buildings that have been uploaded around the clock since launch.”

Frank Gibeau is the president of Electronic Arts Games Label. He explains, “Spore is a hit. Will Wright’s latest delivers an incredibly diverse game that appeals to casual gamers and the core alike. We are off to a great start moving into the holiday season and believe Spore will deliver a platform of creativity for gamers of all stripes for years to come.”

Spore has been developed by the Maxis Studios of EA. The game is expected to hit the mobile phones including the iPhone. Also, besides selling a million copies, Spore has put more than twenty-five million creatures, vehicles and buildings in the game’s universe. The game was also launched in India a few days ago.
