Microsoft, Electronic Arts In-Game Advertisement Deal

Need for Speed

In Game advertisements, don’t you just love ’em? Pardon the Sarcasm. Seems like the endless deals from the past where Eidios decided to put in-game ads for their games. Online Multiplayer Games with “Toyota” Ads. Rainbow Six Vegas franchise with scantily dressed woman of appropriate age group sadvertising “The Axe Effect”, actually we love them. They prove that we don’t mind our Ads that much. As CNET puts it that gamers don’t mind advertisements if they don’t disrupt gameplay or are thoughtfully placed.

Microsoft’s subsidiary Massive Inc. extended the deal with Electronic Arts to feature their Ad Engine in EA titles. Massiv Inc’s Advertisement Engine allows to update the Billboards to advertise in real time when the player is online.

“EA strongly believes that dynamic in-game advertising is an important growth area for our business,” said EA Casual president Kathy Vrabeck. “We selected Massive because they are the industry leader in this space with a global sales footprint, solid brand recognition and in-depth experience in video game advertising.”

Massive currently provides in-game advertisements for the PC and Xbox 360 versions of several titles in EA’s Need for Speed series. As part of the extension, the company plans to add a number of EA Sports franchises to its in-game ad service including Madden NFL, NBA Live, NHL and NASCAR.
