Expect No Remake of Space Channel 5 from Q Entertainment

Space Channel 5 Lots of music games have been released in the last two years. But Dreamcast gamers might remember a music game called as Space Channel 5 that was released in late nineties. Since most of the old games are getting a remake, one would expect that a game like Space Channel 5 would also be remade for the next generation consoles.

But it seems that will not be happening anytime soon. Tetsuya Mizuguchi from Q Entertainment has indicated that they do not have any plans of remaking Space Channel 5. In an interview with gaming news website Eurogamer.net, he was asked whether Space Channel 5 would make a return. This is what Mizuguchi replied:

I don’t feel like there’s a really special reason to remake Space Channel 5 now. It’s not like Rez. Rez is an experience game – the physical experience is very important, the visuals, the sounds and the vibration. I wanted to prove that if you had much more resolution, including the vibration, that it could be much more fun. Space Channel 5 is essentially a rhythm timing game. It’s funny, like a comical TV show. I don’t feel the need for much more resolution in that! That’s the major difference.

Tetsuya Mizuguchi was also queried on his current and upcoming projects. Though he refused to divulge any details, he pointed out that they are preparing some diverse projects currently, which revolve around the music interactives category.
