No Imminent Plans for New Nintendo DS, says George Harrison

Some time ago, Sony released a slimmer version of the PSP and this prompted many to speculate that Nintendo would do the same with the DS. In fact, two days ago Evan Wilson, who is an analyst from Pacific Crest Securities, revealed that a DS redesign is complete.

New DS - No Way

But now Next Gen is reporting that George Harrison has dismissed that there will be a new, redesigned Nintendo DS. Harrison is senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications at Nintendo of America. He said, “We don’t have any imminent plans for an upgrade for the Nintendo DS. The product is still selling extremely well around the world. I’m not sure what his source was for it, but it’s not something you’re going to hear about anytime soon.”

The analyst had said that he got the info from unnamed contacts. The new Nintendo DS supposedly is thinner, does not have a GBA port and features larger screens as well as on-board storage. Well, you never know! The rumor could turn out true as still there are chances that Nintendo could come up with the new DS, maybe in 2008 or 2009.
