Guitar Hero III Increases October Software Sales: Analyst

Guitar Hero III was one of the most awaited games of the year, not only by the gamers but the publishers as well. Now analyst Michael Pachter from Wedbush Morgan has said that GH III has contributed to the rise in sales of game softwares in October. He feels that the October software sales could be around 555 million, which is a fifty percent increase from last year.

Pachter explains, “Although we think that sales of Halo 3, The Orange Box and Guitar Hero III accounted for virtually all of the growth during the month, we think that improving hardware console pricing and the broad diversity and popularity of software will position the industry for solid sales growth in November and December.”

The analyst also indicated that $425 million was generated by software sales for new platforms such as the PS3, PSP, Nintendo DS, Wii and the Xbox 360. As for the PS2, it reached up to $110 million. Analysts are also backing the Wii to regain control of the market in October. As for the PS3, they estimate that it will struggle.
