If you are the head of one of the biggest video game publishing companies, you are supposed to encourage video games! But Wall Street Journal is reporting that EA CEO John Riccitiello stated that some certain gaming companies are ‘boring people to death’ and later said that they have to push aggressively to widen the appeal of videogames.
John Riccitiello said, “For the most part, the industry has been rinse-and-repeat. There just aren’t enough games that are breaking new ground. There’s been lots of product that looked like last year’s product, which looked a lot like the year before. We’re boring people to death and making games that are harder and harder to play.”
Riccitiello also said that there needs to be much more innovation to get in more casual audience. He feels that the video games industry could lose out to competing entertainment sectors.
