Nintendo won’t meet ‘Wiinter’ Demand, says Reggie

Wii is a great console and it has done well so far. But one thing that created problems for Nintendo was the supply constraints of their next generation console. Now Nintendo of America president and CEO Reggie Fils-Amie spoke to San Jose Mercury News where he confirmed that the Wii will not meet the holiday demand.

Wiinter Trouble for Nintendo Wii

Reggie Fils-Amie told San Jose Mercury News in an interview, “We have been sold out worldwide since we launched. Every time we put more into the marketplace, we sell more, which says that we are not even close to understanding where the threshold is between supply and demand…Our inventory is lasting a day. We’re working very hard to make sure that consumers are satisfied this holiday, but I can’t guarantee that we’re going to meet demand. As a matter of fact, I can tell you on the record we won’t.”

However the Nintendo executive mentioned that economics is hampering supply as demand has been significantly more than the supply. In fact, Fils-Aime spoke said that the capability to rise production and to sustain it is not a ‘switch that you flick on’!
