Australian Twitch streamer Pestily, who has earned a massive following playing Escape from Tarkov has beaten xQc to the most-subscribed race. This competition had heated up when a 50-day subathon was started by Pestily, which is still running and has included multiple giveaways till now.

Most of Pestily’s streams are about Escape from Tarkov, which is a game that he has played a large part in popularizing. At the time of writing this, he has 70,797 active subscribers, whereas xQc is trailing behind by around 5,000 subs, with his count of 65,636.

Pestily had started streaming back in 2017 after quitting the Australian army, where he worked as an infantryman for eight years. In his ongoing subathon, he has hosted more than 10 PC giveaways, which is one of the reasons for the surge in subscribers.

His game of choice most of the time is Escape from Tarkov, the multiplayer FPS from Battlestate Games that’s been in closed beta since 2017. It is known for its surprise Tarkov Wipe events that are basically full resets of every player’s skills, inventory, and quest progress, thus promoting more parity between newcomers and veterans. If historical data is crunched, November 2021 is when the next wipe is most likely to occur.

Available only on PC, it is set in the fictional Norvinsk region, where a war is taking place between two private military companies, namely the United Security (USEC) and the Battle Encounter Assault Regiment (BEAR). Players are required to join matches called ‘raids’ that have them fighting other players for loot, while also trying to survive and escape.

Pestily’s subathon is far from done, so newer records are indeed on the cards for the popular Escape from Tarkov Twitch streamer.
