Halo Infinite Multiplayer Mode Now Available To Play For Free

Halo Infinite

In a surprise move, Microsoft has made the Halo Infinite multiplayer mode available to play on PC and Xbox from today onwards. This was conveyed during the Xbox 20th anniversary event. The single-player mode is still on course for a December 8 release.

Season 1 of the Halo Infinite multiplayer beta can be downloaded for free now through Xbox Cloud Gaming for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. While a few closed tests were being held by Microsoft from time to time, this beta has been made available to everyone.

Season 1 of Halo Infinite multiplayer will last until May next year. Players will have access to all its maps, the battle pass, and core modes. Their multiplayer progress will carry over to the full release in December.

The December 8 release will mark the launch of the Halo Infinite campaign that will take the story of Master Chief forward after what happened in Halo 5: Guardians. What it won’t include are the game’s co-op and Forge modes that are scheduled to be released later on.

Halo Infinite was supposed to be an Xbox Series X/S launch title but was delayed eventually. A gameplay reveal in July last year had led to severe fan backlash due to the lacklustre visuals of the game. Since then, Microsoft has had more than a year to fix the visuals and judging by the current footage, the game looks pretty ready this time around.

November 15 marks 20 years since the original Halo game was released. Halo: Combat Evolved is often referred to as one of the greatest video games ever made. As we said, the multiplayer mode of Halo Infinite is live now with the campaign mode having been scheduled for a December 8 release.
