The Crysis 3 The Lost Island DLC release date has been set by EA and Crytek for June 4, and it will be seen hitting all three platforms the game is available on. As far as its price is concerned, its PC and PSN versions will be placed at 14.99 USD (approx. Rs. 850), while on Xbox Live, it will sell for 1200 Microsoft Points. This first piece of add-on for the FPS is multiplayer-focused, and hence, would not feature any campaign-based content.
With the new DLC, the developers have returned back to the roots of the series, for they have chosen the first game’s environments as its setting. A refresher; the first title’s story revolved around traces of alien activity having been discovered on a small island in the Philippines 200 miles from Ling Shan. The conflict arises when three different factions are forced to fight for their own interests. But since this add-on is a multiplayer one, we don’t quite know how this is going to be integrated into it.
A set of four fresh maps, two new modes named Frenzy and Possession as well as some additional weapons will be made available. Stressing on the fact that environments have always formed a big part of the series’ gameplay, Cevat Yerli, who’s the CEO of Crytek, mentioned that returning to its spiritual roots will also mean that players of the newest game have new tactical options, game modes and weapons to revel in.
This third entry to the much loved franchise came out in February this year for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Built using the developer’s very own CryEngine 3 technology, it takes place in 2047 in the city of New York which has now been encased inside a massive Nanodome created by the corrupt CELL corporation. Apart from the single- player campaign, it contains a regular multiplayer model, replete with support for up to 16 players on PC and 12 on consoles.
As mentioned above, the Crysis 3 The Lost Island DLC will be arriving on download channels on June 4, which is just a few days from now. This applies to both the North American and European territories.
