Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Apocalypse DLC release date set

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Apocalypse DLC release date has been revealed by Activision, a day after teasing it in the form of a video. This final add-on pack for the first-person shooter will be launched for the Xbox 360 on August 27, and as it’s a timed exclusive for Microsoft’s console, its PS3 and PC versions will be out later on. The contents of this pack include a fresh Zombies mode dubbed Origins and a set of four multiplayer maps, two of which are completely new, whereas two are re-imagined versions of previous CoD maps.

The Origins mode from the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Apocalypse DLC is being described by its makers as the ‘most horrifying and imaginative Zombies experience to date.’ It will see the return of the four heroes who were present in the first ever Zombies map. They will be seen fighting it out in a dieselpunk-stylized World War I-era France, infested by the undead. For the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Apocalypse DLC, Activision has partnered with rock band, Avenged Sevenfold, which has lent a song from its upcoming album to it, and also with comic book artist Alex Ross, who has helped out in the original artwork department.

First among the four maps in the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Apocalypse DLC is called Pod, and has been described as a failed utopian community from the 70s. And then there’s Frost which is set in a snow-capped European city. Takeoff and Dig are remakes of Stadium and Courtyard maps from the CoD: BO and CoDL World at War, respectively.

Like we said, the Black Ops 2 Apocalypse DLC will be released for the Xbox 360 through Xbox Live on August 27. Its launch details for the PS3 and PC are still unknown.
