Battlefield 3 to Get Three Big Expansion Packs This Year

Following last year’s much loved Back to Karkand DLC, Battlefield 3 is all set to be greeted with a troika of expansion packs in 2012. First among the lot is named Close Quarters and it will be made available this June, while the other two – Armored Kill and End Game, will be outed during fall and winter, respectively.

Close Quarters will place gamers in the middle of a frantic, infantry-only theater of war. Its environments will receive a boost from the Frostbite 2 technology which goes into this game, rendering high definition destruction of everything from the furniture to the plaster. Close Quarters will also embed the title with new weapons, assignments and unique dog tags.

Patrick Bach, Executive Producer, Battlefield 3, shared, “Instead of delivering piecemeal map packs, we’re giving players a completely new experience with every themed expansion pack to keep the action fresh. Our expansions are designed to excite our large and active fan base while attracting new recruits with gameplay that is dynamic and unpredictable every time.”

The Armored Kill DLC will focus more on vehicular warfare which the series is known for. It has been announced that driveable tanks, ATVs and mobile artillery will be seen making their way into this expansion pack along with the biggest map in Battlefield history. Details regarding the third DLC named End Game, have been kept under the wraps by EA.

While this trio of Battlefield 3 expansion packs will be launched later this year, the Back to Karkand DLC can be bought by players currently at 14.99 USD (approx. Rs. 755) or 1200 Microsoft Points.
