Call of Duty: Black Ops Thrashes its Way into Stores Worldwide

As we’ve been reporting all this while, the 2010 holiday season is the time for intense gaming indulgence. The terrain has been overwhelmed with the arrival of some highly anticipated titles while others await their turn for a blistering blast. Last month, Treyarch raised the temperature surrounding the Call of Duty franchise with the revelation of the 3D feature in the next chapter. After a long spell of announcements, the developer has finally unleashed Call of Duty: Black Ops for gamers around the world.

The game was launched with record-setting number of midnight openings spanning over several retail stores around the world. Unraveling a new chapter in the history of the series, the title unveils dynamic behind enemy lines action. Featuring unparalleled player customization alongside innovative in-game currency system, it extends new Wager Match gameplay modes, Theater video recording capabilities, Combat Training and more.

“From the beginning, we focused our entire studio on creating the most immersive Call of Duty experience ever,” explained Treyarch Studio Head Mark Lamia. “Treyarch wanted to give Call of Duty fans the ultimate entertainment package this year. Black Ops delivers an epic and cinematic single player experience, an incredibly deep multiplayer offering, and endless hours of co-op fun with Zombies.”

GameStop Senior Vice President of Merchandising, Bob McKenzie, remarked, “We set a new record with reservations on Call of Duty: Black Ops with more than any other title in GameStop’s history.”

Xbox 360 and PS3 gamers can also look forward to the title’s Collector’s editions. The Call of Duty: Black Ops Prestige Edition has been crafted with the RC-XD Surveillance Vehicle. This inclusion offers an edge to players as it transmits TFT color video and audio, covering activities within a range of approximately 200 feet through its fully-functioning remote camera. In addition, the Hardened Edition of the game extends a custom Black Ops limited edition medal, four playable zombie cooperative maps along with exclusive Avatar outfit.

Call of Duty: Black Ops is now available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii and Windows PC.
