Microsoft, Bungie Reveal 3 New Multiplayer Maps for Halo 3: ODST

Halo 3: ODST is the latest installment in the record breaking Halo series and is expected to release this September. After earlier revealing loads of features and goodies for the game, Microsoft and Bungie have now announced 3 new multiplayer maps which will include the Heretic, Citadel and Longshore maps.

Halo 3 ODST Heretic

The Midship arena from Halo 2 makes its debut in the third installment of the long running franchise. In the Heretic map, players find themselves in the gloomy interior of the Pious Inquisitor. The complex symmetrical spaces call for the gamers to employ some serious strategies in order to outwit and outlast their opponents.

Citadel is an abandoned Forerunner stronghold offering few spaces for respite. Players need to be prepared for the worst as they scamper for cover in the small symmetrical spaces. The Citadel forces will have to watch out for relentless enemy fire as the two opposing bases provide only a little cover. Players would need to constantly fine tune their strategies and engage in close quarter combat in order to survive in this battlefield.

Covering events which lead to the story told in Halo 3, the game sees players assume the role of an ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Trooper) as they investigate the mysteries behind the Covenant’s ransacking of New Mombasa. The new Firefight multiplayer mode adds new depth to the gameplay by allowing users to fight against hordes of bloodthirsty enemies as members of an ODST team.

Halo 3: ODST contains a total of 24 maps including all the original Halo 3 maps, the 3 new multiplayer maps as well as the Legendary, Heroic and Mythic Map pack. Halo: Reach is the prequel to Halo trilogy and buyers of Halo 3: ODST will get access to Halo: Reach, which releases in fall of 2010.
