BioShock Could Have Five Sequels: 2K

Back in August 2007, 2K Games released a wonderful shooter game that took a unique retrospective on the whole survival horror genre. That game was BioShock, which was released on the Xbox 360 and the PC. A PS3 version was released last year. Now 2K Games are working on the sequel, BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams.

But the question is how many sequels will BioShock have? It seems that BioShock could go the way of a movie franchise, that is the Star Wars series and have some five sequels. Christoph Hartmann is the Global President of 2K. In an interview with MCV, he pointed out that they can make six parts of BioShock.

Christoph Hartmann explained, “For BioShock, because it’s so story driven, the question obviously arises, how long can you do it without turning into The Matrix? The first Matrix was great, the second one was weird and the third one, you thought, ‘Who (making this) is on crack and who is not?’ But, then again, look at Star Wars. It is a fight between good and evil, just like BioShock. If we spin it the right way and get the right twist of innovation, we can make six parts of it, as Star Wars did.”

Hartmann also gave some examples and spoke about Duke Nukem and a great racing game (apparently NFS) and pointed out how it has emaciated over the years. The 2K Games executive indicated that they have to be cautious not to cash in.
