Call of Duty: World At War Details Revealed by Treyarch

A few days ago we had reported that Noah Heller, who is the producer of Call of Duty 5, had mentioned that the game will redefine the World War II genre. Now Treyarch and Activision have revealed new details of Call of Duty: World At War, which takes place in the South Pacific and European theaters.

Mark Lamia is the studio head for Treyarch. He comments, “With Call of Duty: World at War, we are re-defining what it means to play a WWII game. We are excited to give players a host of new enemies that employ entirely new tactics, as well as new, groundbreaking tools, like co-op and the flamethrower, to succeed in the epic fight.”

Call of Duty: World At War makes use of the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare engine. The shooter will have cooperative gameplay and weapons like the flamethrower. The co-op campaign will see gamers rank up and unlock perks in competitive multiplayer by carrying out challenges and earning experience points. It also has continuous re-playability and team-based gameplay. Gamers stand to always gain experience points if they are online with Call of Duty: World at War.

Call of Duty: World at War is currently being developed by Treyarch. The shooter will be released for the PS3, Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 and the PC platforms in the fall season of 2008. The Xbox 360, PS3 and PC will support up to four-players online as well as two-player local split-screen for the consoles. As for the Nintendo Wii version of Call of Duty: World At War, it will have an exceptional co-op mode for two players.
