Crysis Warhead Announced by EA and Crytek

Crysis changed the way people looked at PC games. It had very realistic graphics and set standards for the forthcoming PC games. Now developers Crytek and publishers Electronic Arts (EA) have sent word about a new game called as Crysis Warhead. It is not a sequel. The game is basically a parallel story to Crysis.

Crysis Warhead sees gamers assume the role of Sergeant Sykes (or Psycho). The game is set during the events of the original title and gamers will see what was really happening on the other side of the island. Crysis Warhead will feature a bigger arsenal of fully customizable weapons and new vehicles. Besides the single player campaign, gamers can also expect new multiplayer content.

David DeMartin is the VP and Global GM at EA Partners. He quoted, “The best result of a partnership that we can ask for in the EA Partners program is when a world class independent studio like Crytek chooses to continue to work with us. Crysis was an amazing game and is going to be a blockbuster franchise. We could not be more thrilled to be working with Crytek to launch another hit with Crysis Warhead this year.”

Cevat Yerli, Chief Executive Officer and President of Crytek comments, “We were very pleased with the reception of Crysis from both gamers and media after our launch last year. That being said, one of the chief principles of our studio is to always raise the bar. With Warhead, we are focusing on refining our storytelling and game performance, while also delivering more of the visually stunning graphics and immersive, free-roaming gameplay everyone loved in Crysis.”

Crysis Warhead will be a PC-exclusive, just like the original game. It is expected to be out in the fall season of 2008. The game is the first title to be developed at Crytek’s Budapest studio. Crysis Warhead will make use of the CryENGINE 2 technology by Crytek.
