Darkstalkers Resurrection announced for PSN, XBLA release

At the ongoing New York Comic Con, Capcom has revealed that in 2013, it will be launching Darkstalkers Resurrection which is a compilation of two classic arcade games – Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge and Darkstalkers 3. Slated to arrive via PSN and Xbox Live, this game will supposedly launch with HD visuals as well as the suite of filters and viewpoints that were spotted in recent Capcom re-releases like Marvel vs. Capcom Origins and Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition.

It will be the franchise’s first ever stint on current-gen consoles. For its online offerings, it will depend upon the GGPO middleware which is a design that grants almost lagless online experiences. Its high-definition visuals will be accompanied by multiple viewing options as well as replay sharing via YouTube. Moreover, a Spectator Mode will also be included along with a Challenge/Tutorial Mode, unlockable concept artwork and videos and in-game achievements of course.

The GGPO system, which was earlier introduced via Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition and Marvel vs. Capcom Origins, has now been updated to provide even improved lag-free fighting game experiences, claims the developer. It has been infused with an upgraded matchmaking attribute that grants options like region matching, ping lock and ping display. Newly updated HUD will also form part of the title.

Darkstalkers Resurrection will be released as a downloadable game for the PS3 and Xbox 360 early in 2013. It will be priced on PSN at 14.99 USD (approx. Rs. 790), whereas on Xbox Live, it will be doled out in exchange of 1,200 Microsoft Points.
