Skullgirls Delayed till 2012

Gamers who are looking forward to the PSN title named Skullgirls, which was supposed to release later this year, would now have to wait till 2012 to get their hands on this fighter. On its official website, Reverge Labs has cited their ‘gameplay first development approach’ as the main reason behind this delay.

The developer apparently wants to use up all the available time to finish up and polish the final game. It also revealed that ‘vagaries’ of digital distribution and the ‘submission process’ are currently making it ‘impossible’ to announce a firm release date. Moreover, based on community feedback Reverge Labs will supposedly be making various changes in Skullgirls, which include a 10 percent boost in the gameplay speed.

Peter Bartholow, game designer at Reverge Labs, posted on the website, “There are a lot of reasons behind this delay, but the overriding one is that we’re just trying to make the best game we can. As tournament attendees and forum-goers know, we’ve done extensive tweaking and added new features based on community feedback. While many of these things are individually small, they add up over time and can delay other tasks – some companies call this ‘feature creep,’ but we call it the extra polish that takes a game from ‘good’ to ‘great’.”

The backgrounds of this title, which were earlier supposed to be 2D will now been changed to 3D. Also new effects and other presentation improvements shall also be introduced to the game along with additional music from Michiru Yamane. Furthermore, Skullgirls will also comprise a PS3 custom soundtrack option, in-game art galleries and button macros to help when playing on a pad.

Revenge Labs has confirmed that the delayed Skullgirls will soon be getting a release date, but for now gamers must know that the title won’t launch until early 2012.
