Capcom reveals Street Fighter X Tekken at Comic-Con

A few months back, we saw Super Street Fighter IV making its way to eager gaming audiences and by the end of April its first million units were shipped to retailers across the globe. Another title in the fighting genre pipeline is Marvel vs. Capcom 3 with the company revealing some of its character at Comic-Con. The event that just concluded yesterday also saw Capcom stating that a new title dubbed as Street Fighter X Tekken was currently under development.

The game will see fighters plucked right out from these two bastions and will also include the same technology features in Street Fighter IV & Super Street Fighter IV. Street Fighter X Tekken will dish out familiar features such as Training and Versus but with new enhancements. There will also be Tag Team combat where two fighters are opted for top execute special combos and knockout assist attacks.

Producer of Street Fighter X Tekken Yoshinori Ono commented, “This is history we’re making. Two fighting games that have rivalled each other are finally standing on the same stage. This isn’t just a showdown between Tekken and Street Fighter, but a decisive battle for Capcom and Namco Bandai Games. So I’m going to give it my all.”

Fans of this genre can expect to see Tekken characters like Nina Williams and Kazuya Mishima. These inclusions enter the game with a new look to match the art style of the seminal titles but will however retain their unique abilities and signature moves. There will also be new and familiar detailed environments filled with engaging animations. The game is scheduled to also feature 2D gameplay with 3D character models.

Capcom has not yet revealed the exact release dates or pricing details of Street Fighter X Tekken but has however has disclosed that it would unfurl across the PS3 and Xbox 360.
