Indian gamers might be practicing hard for the WCG World Championships in September but most of them turned up at a suburban mall in Mumbai to play in the India finals of the WCG Asian Championship. In the end, nine winners won the right to go to an all expense paid trip to Singapore for the WCG Asian Championship.
Here is the list of winners:
Dead or Alive (Xbox 360): Mannan Sandhu
FIFA 07 – Pereira Reuben
Age of Empire III – Chotu Vora
War Craft – Vaishnav Sagar
The team event was won by Bangalore team comprising of Nilay, Rahul, Sharath, Vishak & Prasad.
Vishal Gondal, CEO, Indiagames explains, “The India final was one of the hardest fought gaming tournaments we have seen in recent times. Indian gamers are improving by leaps and bounds and we are confident that they will soon make a mark as professional gamers in the international scene. The Indian gaming scene is getting more intense year on year and the World Cyber Games provides an ideal platform for them to showcase their gaming prowess.”
Of course, now most of the winners go to compete at the Asian Championship Finals in Singapore. However, one lucky runner-up will go instead of the winner as the winner did not have a passport! All in all, the event went great and what’s surprising was that there was no Counter-Strike. But then, they should have put Gears of War on the roster.
