Rocket League to receive cross-platform party support in coming months

The makers of Rocket League have been doing a great job at keeping the interests of gamers peaked by adding new features every now and then. Latest in the list of fresh additions will be cross-platform party support, which the developers have revealed, will arrive in either July or August.

Cross-platform play has been part of Rocket League for quite some time now, but the addition of party support will enable gamers to play with their friends finally. Details about which platforms will be eligible for the interplay are still slim, but we think this will work the same way that cross-platform play currently works.

That means PC players will be able to play with PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch owners, but PS4 gamers won’t be able to play with Xbox One or Switch players. To enable cross-platform party support, a unique in-game ID will be introduced, which will be a combination of a name and a unique code.

You will be able to add friends from other platforms by entering their IDs into the new in-game friends list. This will create the party, enabling you and your friends to play Rocket League online.

Developer Psyonix has also revealed a new Rocket Pass that will be introduced for the game. Designed along the lines of Fortnite’s Battle Pass, it will include multiple tiers of earnable content. Every such pass will be active for a few months before it’s retired, after which a new one will take its place.

Rocket League was first released back in 2015 for PC and the PS4, while it made its Xbox One debut the following year. In November last year, the game made its way to the Nintendo Switch as well.
