Driveclub beta slated for July says report, signups to begin at E3

Sony’s much awaited and much delayed PS4 racer Driveclub will be hitting the PS4 in October this year. But its heavy online integration will surely need some good testing before it’s fit for going live, and that is why news of a possible beta for this game having been lined up for a July 1 launch doesn’t come as a surprise. We’re expecting Sony to keep it a closed affair at first, before opening up for everyone to experience the title.

VG247 reports that a ‘senior source’ has revealed to it the possibility of this beta. The site has mentioned that Sony is apparently set to announce this testing phase at its E3 press briefing on June 9. The process of signing up for the closed beta is expected to begin the following day, and those selected will get to jump into the fun on July 1. However, amongst all this, the above mentioned site has also been sent a statement by Sony asking it to deny that the Driveclub beta is happening.

Things will hence be clear when we hear something official about it. This game which comes from Motostorm developer Evolution Studios was supposed to have launched by now, but a delay pushed its release date to October 7. One of the defining games of the PS4, it is set to feature a special team racing element that will have players managing teams and more.

We’ll have more news on the supposed Driveclub beta when additional details about it are out.
