Need for Speed Shift has made waves across the gaming world. We had reported back in March that this installment of NFS would release in September 2009. Three months later a new Driver Profile system was introduced for the title. Now EA joins forces with retailer Game to unveil the ultimate driving game called Need for Speed Shift UK Championships.
UK gamers will be able to show off their driving and racing prowess at Game stores scattered all across the country. They will compete against others to post the fasted lap times on the latest offering in the renowned NFS franchise. All the rubber-burning heats will happen in 49 Game stores across UK. The winners in the individual stores will then have to prove their racing skills by taking part in a final set of time trials.
The finale is set to take place on September 26, 2009 at Thorpe Park, Surrey. The final 49 gamers have to set a quick lap time that would bring them great glory and crown them the ultimate winner of the NFS Shift UK Championship. The lucky player will be bestowed upon with the keys of a new Nissan 350Z GT sports car. To commemorate the release of the game, participants can look forward to loads of other spot prizes in the respective stores across the UK.

By focusing on the driver’s experience through the first-person view, we are able to capture the high-speed intensity and gripping emotions of racing. This contest will allow thousands of gamers across the UK to experience that feeling and reward them for their skill,” stated Stuart Lang, EA UK Marketing Director.

Lots of budding racers are going to be really excited to come in and test their racing skills against other racers around the country. And to top it all, the prize is amazing. It’s another example of Game going the extra mile for customers,” commented Martyn Gibbs, Customer and Brand Director at Game.
NFS Shift incorporates all the exciting elements of an adrenaline pumping racing game. Players will be put in the driver’s seat and will be able to experience all the action first hand. They are offered the hyper reality of the cockpit view, new disorienting crash dynamic and also perception based G-forces. The title consists of a precise driving model that is physics-based. This enables gamers to feel the rush of every change of track surface and even every impact.
Need for Speed Shift is expected to release this autumn for the PS3, Xbox 360, PSP and PC. The exact price of the title has not been disclosed by the company as yet.
