“We know that racing can be fun for everyone, and we are excited to enter this genre with a game that keeps players in the pack and combines fun with intense racing battles,” remarked Maria Stipp, Executive VP and GM of Owned Properties, Activision Publishing. “Bizarre Creations is one of the most creative studios in the industry with a rich heritage of top-rated racing games and we are excited to partner with them on Blur, which is set to break the mold of traditional racing games.”

“We did our homework and saw a huge opportunity to move beyond traditional racers and create a game completely focused on making racing ‘fun’ again,” commented Martyn Chudley, Creative Director, Bizarre Creations. “Blur delivers a new style of racing experience for all gamers, regardless of their experience, skill or genre preferences. Everything the player does, both in their cars and with their cars, is a dramatic adrenaline rush; it’s a real blast!”

The game features real world locations from San Francisco, Los Angeles and the streets of UK and Spain and also allows players to battle with other cars, collecting power-ups as they race to the finish line. Blur utilizes extremely realistic collision technology with which cars can crumple under the forces of impact.

Blur incorporates a deep single player story, as players make friends, enemies and gain popularity with the fans. The game also features team-based as well as competitive multiplayer races in which up to 20 players can race online, or 4 players on a single console with the 4-player split screen. Bizarre also introduces Custom Groups, the game’s original social gaming experience, where practically anyone can come up with and create their own interpretation of how a multiplayer mode should be played. These new multiplayer modes are then shared immediately across the social network.

Blur is expected to be released in the fall of 2009 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and the PC, while prices have not been mentioned.
