Nintendo Pokemon Shuffle coming to iOS and Android

Nintendo has revealed that Pokemon Shuffle will be coming soon to Apple iOS and Android devices. The free-to-play puzzler was launched earlier this year for 3DS. The company published a video on YouTube in order to make this announcement. The teaser offers a peek at what the game will look like on the mobile platforms towards which it is heading.

Nintendo earns revenue from Pokemon Shuffle through its freemium model. Five games can be played for free during each session, after which users can buy tokens to continue doing so. Microtransactions will never find a place in our hearts and that’s where the appeal of the puzzler fades a little. Otherwise, the title seems to be quite a nice way to pass time on a slow weekend.

Fans can buy more ‘play time’ by shelling out cash for tokens that take the form of hearts here. Those who don’t want to pay up can just wait for a certain amount of time for the hearts to get recharged once again, though these are limited to five. The tokens purchased within Pokemon Shuffle are separated from the ones which are charged up over time.

The title is basically a puzzle game that has players fighting against other Pokemon by matching three or more of them in order to launch an attack. They can hunt down wild Pokemon and add them to their collection. Various items and mega evolutions may be combined to bring about powerful effects. Items can be bought with lumps of in-game gold players have paid for.

All in all, Pokemon Shuffle is the kind of puzzler you may want to enjoy when you’re taking a break from more serious games or feeling a bit of nostalgia for the hit anime series.
