Pac-Man Championship Edition DX unveiled

Running across slim passages while swallowing endless dots and being hunted by multi-colored ghosts is the trademark of the legendary classic, Pac-Man. Bringing similar but much intense kind of fun for gamers to engage in, Pac-Man Championship Edition DX has now released for Xbox 360 via XBLA and is set to be available for PS3 owners through PSN in the coming week.

Pac-Man Championship Edition

Apart from the signature Score Attack mode from Pac-Man Championship Edition that set a countdown for players to gather maximum number of points as they could until time ran out, two fun-filled new modes are also offered in Pac-Man Championship Edition DX. While the first mode Time Trials presents gamers with a number of laps that they must run through as quickly as possible, the second one called Ghost Combo replaces the regular gulping through Pac-Dots with munching ghosts across the pathways. The number of successive ghosts that the Pac-Man masticates while linking Power Pellets together decides players’ scores in the game.

Swarming each maze is a large number of sleeping ghosts who get annoyed as Pac-Man passes next to them. These ghosts follow the dot-eater till a Power Pellet is acquired. If the situation gets extremely narrow with a ghost getting in close proximity, a slowdown effect is triggered that allows players to work out the best strategy possible. A bomb can be set off if the ghost train becomes extremely undefeatable, transferring all active ghosts back to the center of the maze.

Featuring new and updated mazes, techno soundtrack, captivating neon graphics, three fast-paced modes and various other updates, the new edition is reported to deliver ‘one of the most satisfying gaming experiences’ offered in 2010.

Pac-Man Championship Edition DX is out now on XBLA for 800 Microsoft Points and is scheduled to be released via PSN on November 23, 2010 for 9.99 USD (approx. Rs. 454).
