The Walking Dead retail release date has received a push, with the much anticipated launch now having being set for December 11 in North America, instead of the earlier announced December 4. Available currently only as a downloadable in the form of 5 separate episodes, this game has managed to grab stupendous popularity for its poignant storytelling and engrossing gameplay. The retail edition is set to be deployed for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC as well as Mac.
It will include a compilation of all five episodes of the game, and will be offered at a value-added cost of 29.99 USD (approx. Rs. 1,650). Interested gamers can now also post pre-orders for it. A number of retailers in North America are taking these pre-orders. On the other hand, those residing in European territories are still to receive any news about the availability of The Walking Dead retail edition in their region. Developer Telltale Games has however maintained that an announcement regarding this matter will be coming ‘soon.’
Hardcore fans of the series also have the Collector’s Edition to treat themselves with. Priced at 69.99 USD (approx. Rs. 3,845), this bundle is only available for the PS3 and Xbox 360, and that too, only via pre-orders taken by GameStop. Apart from the disc with all five episodes on it, it also kicks in an exclusive edition of TWD Compendium One which includes 48 issues of Robert Kirkman’s comic book set on which the series is based. Besides, Best Buy stores will be selling a Limited Edition cover variant for all the platforms, which will come accompanied by an exclusive poster insert.
First launched in April this year, the episodic series was quick to garner acclaim across all streams. Its emotional storytelling was well appreciated, and was complemented brilliantly by its point and click adventure gameplay that was coupled with a few role-playing elements. Following its success, it was also ported to iOS, with all five episodes live now on the platform. Telltale Games has even announced plans for a Season 2 of the game, but details about it are still unavailable.
Following the delay, The Walking Dead retail version looks all set to hit store shelves in North America on December 11.
