Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs video game released by Activision

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs is the third animated movie in the Ice Age series. Now Activision Publishing has announced the Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs video game, based on the Twentieth Century Fox movie.

“Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs allows kids to play as some of their favorite movie characters on their own, or, for the first time in the series, with their family and friends in multiplayer mini-games,” Rob Kostich, head of marketing for licensed properties, Activision Publishing, explained. “Family game night will take on a whole new meaning as you compete in hilarious challenges like Sloth Throw, Dino Targets and Sloth Chase using your Wii Remote or gamepad.”

The game features Diego, Sid, Manny, Scrat as well as Buck, the one-eyed Dino hunting weasel, as playable characters. It also lets players explore the 15 game levels filled with mysterious dinosaurs as they solve a variety of puzzles.

“The Ice Age franchise is so successful because the characters are extremely engaging and the story is fantastic – two elements that are perfect for a video game,” stated Gary Rosenfeld, Senior VP of New Media for Fox Licensing. “This game is fun for the entire family and will provide hours of entertainment.”

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs the video game features environments ranging from ice covered tundra landscapes to a jungle full of strange dinosaurs and plants. The game provides over 6 playable characters and special attacks, such as Sid’s spin attack. Players can even ride on the back of a pterodactyl to get away from sticky situations. Up to four players can join in the eight competitive multiplayer mini-games.

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs is now available for a suggested retail price of 49.99 USD (approx. Rs. 2,395) for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Nintendo Wii. The version of the game for the Nintendo DS and PS2 retails for 29.99 USD (approx. Rs. 1,435) while the Games for Windows version costs 19.99 USD (approx. Rs. 960). The Nintendo DS version has been developed by Artificial Mind & Movement while console and PC versions have been developed by Eurocom.
