No Man’s Sky Gets Its Nintendo Switch Release Date

No Man's Sky

No Man’s Sky is coming to the Nintendo Switch on October 7. The game was supposed to hit the console this summer but there has seemingly been a delay in its development. It’s worth noting that both its physical and digital copies will be made available on the same date along with physical copies of the PS5 version that weren’t launched earlier.

The Switch Edition of No Man’s Sky will come fully equipped, featuring all the content that has been added to the game during its 6-year run. “For the first time ever, millions of Switch users will be able to experience No Man’s Sky on-the-go. An entire universe in the palm of your hand,” reads a blurb from developer Hello Games.

Hello Games’ Sean Murray has said about the Switch Edition, “No Man’s Sky on this tiny portable device feels both completely natural and also totally improbable at the same time.” Calling the development of the game for the Switch a “moonshot,” he said that its procedurally generated nature made it difficult to bring it to the portable console. He then added, “But I think this team never seems happier than when they are trying to do near-impossible things.”

Although well regarded right now, No Man’s Sky remains one of the most controversial games of recent times. Upon its arrival in August 2016, it was found to be missing several key features. The hyped-up expectations of fans were severely hurt and it didn’t help that its gameplay was lacklustre and repetitive.

That changed later on though. The makers started expanding and improving the game vastly with free updates and its popularity has greatly increased in recent times. So much so that the developers will even be releasing No Man’s Sky on the iPad later this year.
