Dune: Spice Wars Get Multiplayer Modes In Early Access

Dune: Spice Wars

Still in its early access stage and preparing for a 2023 release, Dune: Spice Wars has received a big boost with the introduction of its multiplayer update. Plus, new regions, events and more also make their way into the game.

The sci-fi strategy title from Shiro Games has received its new multiplayer modes in its first major early access update since its arrival in April. While multiplayer was surprisingly absent from that release of Dune: Spice Wars, the studio had confirmed that it will be released sometime this summer.

And now that it has finally arrived, players can utilize both dedicated servers and peer-to-peer connections to gain access to it. They can indulge in 2v2 matches or four-person free-for-alls while playing as Atreides, Harkonnen, Fremen, or Smugglers.

Shiro Games has also said that AI bots will fill up vacant spots in multiplayer matches. As for their difficulty settings, they can range from easy to insane. Moreover, a suite of customization options are also available for them, including the ability to adjust map sizes, victory conditions, sandworm, storm, and Sietch activity, and more.

The other changes that make their way into the game through this update include reworked development trees that focus more on the synergy between factions. And then there are new political resolutions, events, and regions as well.

Dune: Spice Wars is a 4X real-time strategy game based on the science fiction media franchise created by Frank Herbert. It tests your strategy skills as you strive to lead your faction and battle for control and dominance over the harsh desert planet of Arrakis.

The full release of Dune: Spice Wars is planned for 2023 but you can indeed jump into it right now through Steam’s early access program. It’s also going 20 percent off at the moment.
