Try chat before dialing Nintendo support, if your Bayonetta code’s a dud

Those who bought a physical copy of Bayonetta 2 for Nintendo Switch will no doubt have received a download code for the original game which was released for Wii U in 2014. If it isn’t working, don’t panic. Just go to support.nintendo.com or call the helpline. A number of users on social media are reporting incorrect codes printed on the packaging.

According to a post by Reddit user ZypherMyth, those who have received a code starting with the alphabets ‘URPH’ may find it to be invalid for downloading Bayonetta 1. Nintendo has acknowledged the problem on Twitter and is asking buyers to contact customer care. Apparently, just ‘a small number’ of download codes for the game have been stamped incorrectly.

Nintendo appears to be promising disappointed gamers a new code within 2 business days. Various folks are reporting a wait time of 15 minutes to a few hours for the same. Resorting to chat as opposed to calling up customer care is supposedly yielding faster results for a lot of users who got the wrong code. So maybe try that before mailing or dialing 1-855-548-4693?

Obviously, the wait time is going to keep increasing as more and more buyers call in with this problem. Nintendo has not offered up any numbers to indicate how widespread the issue actually is, as of now.
