Mafia 3 existence confirmed by teaser image, trailer coming next week

We’re only a week away from seeing the first footage from Mafia 3, the long-rumored third entry to the series of period gangster crime games. Hints about the title’s setting and time period have already been provided by a teaser image that has been published by 2K United Kingdom through its Twitter account.

It has been revealed that Mafia 3 will be showcased through a trailer on August 5. That’s the same time during which the Gamescom 2015 event in Germany will be held. Hardened fans must take note that 1pm BST is when they need to stay tuned to YouTube in order to watch the video.

The Mafia 3 teaser image that you can spot in the space down below is meant to suggest both the setting as well as the location of this upcoming title. As has been observed by Techno Buffalo, the cars in the background look like they’re from the 1970s which means this entry will be a much more modern affair than its predecessors.

There’s a swamp right ahead of where the four characters are standing. It even has three alligators inside it moreover. It’s being touted that Mafia III will hence have at least a of portion of it set around the Gulf or the Everglades. However, past leaks have also suggested New Orleans to be the setting of the title.

The Mafia series was started by Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven which was released in 2002 for PC and in 2004 for the PS2 and the Xbox. Its sequel arrived in 2010 for multiple platforms as well. The fresh entry to the series is being developed by a newly formed studio named Hangar 13, and is expected to be launched for the PS4, the Xbox One and PC at least.

For now, waiting is all that we can do to hear more about Mafia 3.
