Just Cause 3 is coming to Windows PC, Sony PS4 and Microsoft Xbox One in the holiday season of 2015, going by the gameplay trailer which has was released recently. That’s right, Square Enix and Avalanche Studios are still keeping mum on the exact launch date of the title. But at least you’ve got the official box art and gameplay video to gawk at for now.
While talking about the release of Just Cause 3, Avalanche Studios noted that it would be sold as a retail box and digital download. It’s not free to play and there are no in-game micro-transactions. As for the newly uploaded trailer, the developers say the footage is all actual gameplay which was shot in-game using cinematic camera angles.
The video apparently isn’t staged or scripted, or guilty of featuring cut scenes. The main story of Just Cause 3 centers around protagonist Rico Rodriguez who is intent on overthrowing General Di Ravello, and ultimately liberating the Mediterranean island of Medici from the grasp of the ruthless dictator.
Just in case you weren’t excited already, the developers took the time to offer you 10 reasons you should be going bonkers about it. Medici is spilling over with large fuel tanks, petrol stations and electrical substations. Meaning ginormous explosions will be waiting to startle you at every other corner.
Just Cause 3 brings in a fresh physics-based destruction system so that anything can go boom or fall apart and there’s no pre-canned destruction to offer any sense of predictability. You will be able to perform a wide variety of stunts since Rico can walk freely on almost any mode of transport on air or land now.
This includes airplane wings, monorail trains (a new addition) and other vehicles. You can destroy vegetation or bridges now, and bust your way through trouble with the deceptively named miniguns. Just Cause 3 also lets you shoot upside down, hook 5 objects together with multi-tether and add a Wingsuit to your gear.
