Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain E3 trailer leaks online

Count one E3 surprise ruined, even as the planned trailer for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain has arrived online now, allowing us to take another deep look into what this extremely anticipated game has in store. Konami itself is the culprit here, for the publisher prematurely uploaded the video onto its YouTube channel. And although it was quick to realize its accident and took it down immediately, people had already downloaded it in the meantime, leading to several mirrors which you can visit now.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

We’ve embedded one such capture in the space below. This long five and a half minute long trailer is rather exciting, with tank battles, helicopters and a lot more intriguing stuff forming part of it. It is most probably this same video which you’ll be seeing at E3, unless Konami has another one stored as backup or it manages to put together another trailer by the time the show goes on floors. That latter possibility it practically impossible, but who are we to say.

Metal Gear Solid 5 took birth at the 2012 Spike Video Game Awards in December 2012 as a mysterious game which was just titled The Phantom Pain. It got a superb trailer and was described to be under development from a new team named Moby Dick Studios. But Internet sleuths and MGS fans were quick to pick up hidden clues from the video to deduce that it’s indeed the next main entry to the massive series. It was only last year that Hideo Kojima acknowledged this sly reveal and confirmed the existence of the game.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is set to hit the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One either this year or the one next. We’re hoping to grab some more insight on this matter at the upcoming E3 so stay tuned.
