November 19 has been announced to be the Watch Dogs release date, as far as North America is concerned, whereas its European sojourn is set to commence on November 22. The cross-gen launch will take place for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and the Wii U at first. Its versions for the PS4 and ‘other next generation consoles’ still remain without any details.
Apart from this news, publisher Ubisoft has even gone on to announce a set of four special editions of the game which are all loaded with different goodies. Grabbing eyeballs right now is the game’s newest trailer which even has more bits of gameplay infused into it. It throws some light on protagonist Aiden Pearce and what drives him to do what he does.
First among the four special editions of the title is called The Dedsec Edition, which will be doled out only by select UK retailers. It contains a 23cm Aiden Pearce figurine, a Steelbook case, a collector box, an artbook, the original soundtrack, a map of Chicago, four collectible cards, three exclusive badges and access to three single-player missions, amounting to about 60 minutes worth of added gameplay.
The Vigilante Edition on the other hand, includes a collector box, Aiden Pearce’s cap and mask, the original soundtrack and one single-player mission. This edition will be dished out by Game in the UK and GameStop in Ireland. And then there’s the Uplay Exclusive Edition which comprises just an exclusive Steelbook and the three single-player missions. Last is the Special Edition which contains nothing but one single-player mission. It will be available at Game in the UK.
Revealed for the first time at last year’s E3, this game has been grabbing quite some attention owing to its unique gameplay mechanics that have been showcased through its trailers. It is an open world title wherein protagonist Aiden Pearce possesses the ability of hacking electronic devices that have been tied to Chicago’s central operating system (ctOS).
The Watch Dogs special editions that have been mentioned in the space above can be pre-ordered through the respective UK retailers. No mention has been made by Ubisoft about any such packs coming to North America.
