Square Enix has taken the veil off the Tomb Raider Collector’s Edition that it plans to launch along with standard copies of the game, the release date for which is marked at March 5, 2012. Complete with a Lara Croft figurine, this set comes loaded with some exclusive DLC packs, as well as other goodies, and it’s priced for the PS3 and Xbox 360 at 99.99 USD (approx. Rs. 5,495). Additionally, this title has already been made available for pre-order via Steam with a discount of 10 percent.

The Collector’s Edition content will be enclosed in what Square Enix calls the Endurance Survival Kit Packaging. It is actually a survival tin salvaged from the ill-fated Endurance ship on which Lara is shown to be travelling in the game’s debut trailer. Apart from of course a copy of the game, it will kick in a Play Arts Kai Lara Croft figurine which is approximately 8-inch tall. This posable statuette possesses 40 points of articulation, and is accompanied by an alternate set of three hands, a bow and arrow, a shotgun, a handgun and a climbing axe.

According to the game’s official blog, the Tomb Raider Collector’s Edition will also contain a 15-inch x 19-inch double sided island map and poster. The map will allow gamers to discover important landmarks on the mysterious island of Yamati portrayed in the title, while the poster is that of the box art on the game’s standard copies. Moreover, a 5-inch x 7-inch heavy stock lithograph print with matte frame will be included in it as well, alongside a soundtrack CD. Lastly, three iron-on badges and a downloadable weapons pack will also form part of the set.
Recently, a Survival Edition of the upcoming game was announced by Square Enix exclusively for Europe. Apart from the title disc, it comprises a mini art book, a detailed double-sided map, a branded waterproof survival pouch and download codes to the game’s soundtrack and a DLC weapon pack. This region will also get a Collector’s Edition of its own, but contents apart from the Lara Craft figurine and the Survival Kit Packaging are yet to be confirmed.

The Tomb Raider Collector’s Edition is not up for pre-order yet in either of the two territories, but it is expected to go live soon.
