New Star Trek Video Game Announced for Early 2013

Paramount Pictures and Namco Bandai Games have gone on to take the veil off a new Star Trek Video Game which will be co-published and distributed worldwide by the latter company in Q1 of 2013 for ‘major home consoles’ and PC. Under development by Digital Extremes of BioShock 2 and The Darkness II fame, the title is being described as an action-packed combat game.

This fresh offering is said to be based on a standalone narrative that comprises the adventure of Kirk and Spock as they work in tandem to prevent a legendary enemy race from taking control of the galaxy. It will be released right before the launch of the next Star Trek film being made by director and producer J.J. Abrams. The yet untitled flick will have its theatrical release on May 17, 2013.

The new title’s original story is being written by Marianne Krawczyk, who is known for her work on the God of War series, along with Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, writers and producers for the upcoming Star Trek film. The Star Trek Video Game will allow players to control of both Kirk and Spock as they tread across unexplored planets and enemy battleships with the help of their 23rd century weapons and gear.

Although the Star Trek Video Game will be released in Q1 of 2013, it is yet to receive a definite launch date. We’ll keep fans posted with all the latest developments regarding the title.
