THQ Ropes in Jesper Kyd for Darksiders II Soundtrack

As revealed by THQ, the original score for the upcoming game Darksiders II will be crafted by the likes of Jesper Kyd. This Danish composer is renowned for creating the iconic musical scores of the Assassin’s Creed and Hitman series. The publisher further reveals that his ‘emotionally dynamic’ soundtrack for the action title would include an amalgamation of melodic fantasy elements as well as shady ethereal themes.

By merging both these genres, players can expect an aural playground that is slated to provide an overall cinematic experience as they journey through the various eerie realms strewn across the game. Kyd added that this endeavor was among the ‘most fun and creatively satisfying projects.’ Furthermore, composer Giles Lamb has also been roped in for extending his creative expertise across the title’s campaign creative score. Besides composing soundtracks for a plethora of films, games, commercials and TV, he has also worked on the game trailer for Dead Island.

“It’s been an absolute pleasure working with Jesper,” commented Jeremy Robins, Audio Director at Vigil Games. “He’s an extremely talented composer and an avid gamer, who not only created an amazing soundtrack for Darksiders II, but intuitively knew how to cater each composition to achieve maximum musical impact for players.”

Sequel to the original Darksiders, this adventure title follows the escapades of Death, the most dreaded amongst the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. The addictive storyline sees him embarking on a quest to redeem his brother War’s name, who was accused of being the root cause of the Apocalypse in Darksiders. Players will be able to take on the role of the main protagonist as he gallops across various light as well as dark realms, reminding his enemies, ‘What starts with War, ends with Death.’
