Insomniac Games and EA unearth Overstrike for Xbox 360, PS3

Before the E3 2011 flagged off, a tweet on the official Insomniac Games Twitter page chirped in to tell us about the developer’s first cross platform title. Now as we are preparing to wrap the enthusiasm of the convention, the company has revealed its upcoming collaboration with EA in the form of a new four-player action game dubbed Overstrike.

Overstrike

The upcoming title has been designed to introduce a four member team of elite agents entitled Overstrike 9. A blend of people from different walks of life, this group comprises a decorated detective, a young scientist, a former mercenary and a lifelong thief. Treated like an outcast within their organization, they need to crush a global terrorist faction for saving mankind.

“Overstrike presents a unique blend of features that have long been a part of the Insomniac DNA: high powered gadgets, action-heavy gameplay, memorable characters in a deep and mysterious universe and of course a touch of humor,” elucidated Ted Price, founder and CEO of Insomniac Games. “And since this is our first multiplatform game, we’re especially excited to introduce ourselves to a new audience – one which may not have experienced our previous games.”

In the game, players can interact with advanced weaponry and superior gadgets. They will have to penetrate into enemy’s strongholds for defeating the terrorist cell from wreaking havoc. With the unique narrative style rendered by Insomniac Games and EA’s expertise, this spy-fi adventure is expected to extend impressive multiplatform action gameplay.

Now being developed in the labs of Insomniac Games, Overstrike has been scheduled to release on the Xbox 360 and PS3. We’ve not heard of its exact pricing and availability details yet.
