Activision Publishing and Marvel Entertainment have made it known that The Amazing Spider-Man is slated to release for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii in the summer of 2012. This title will be launched in conjunction with Sony Picture Entertainment’s forthcoming feature film of the same name, and is all set to act as an epilogue story, which transpires after the events of the flick.
Also planned to launch for the 3DS and the DSi, this game will have the super-hero free-roaming and web-slinging all over New York City. Moreover, this title’s navigation and combat systems are said to have been induced with evolutionary improvements. The game will also kick in an all-new storyline which would involve Spider-Man shielding the city of Manhattan from the threat of various bad guys.
The Amazing Spider-Man is being developed by Beenox, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision. The developer can be noted for Spider-Man: Edge of Time which was launched earlier this year for multiple consoles. The original story that features in the new game has been penned by Hollywood writer Seamus Kevin Fahey, who is known for his work on Spartacus: Gods of the Arena and the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica.
Gameplay additions that make their way into this offering include a new Web Rush mechanic that supposedly provides gamers with the ability to perform a number of moves that were herebefore unseen. More details about this game are expected to come to light during the Video Game Awards event that is slated to take place on December 10, 2011.
The Amazing Spider-Man will be outed for consoles in the summer of 2012. An exact release date is yet to be divulged by Activision. It can currently be pre-ordered for the PS3 and Xbox 360 at 59.99 USD (approx. Rs. 3,102), while its Wii edition sells at 49.99 USD (approx Rs. 2,585).
