Square Enix Joins Hands With Shanda Games

Recently, we reported about the start of the beta phase for the MMORPG in the Final Fantasy series. This fourteenth chapter in the popular franchise will pass through several boundaries for reaching diverse gamers. Publisher Square Enix has teamed up with Shanda Games which will facilitate the company to take the experience of the new installment across the Chinese territory.

“The media entertainment markets are increasingly becoming more and more global in nature. Under this environment, we are speeding up our globalization strategy aimed at transforming our Group into a truly world-class enterprise. Through this partnership with Shanda Games, a company with great success in online game operations in China, we are taking an important step in increasing the reach of high quality content from the Square Enix Group to even more customers around the world,” commented Yoichi Wada, President and Representative Director of Square Enix Holdings.

With this partnership, the celebrated saga will enter mainland China for the first time. The agreement between the two companies will enable Square Enix to serve newer markets, expanding its network beyond Japan, North America and Europe. It is also expected to help Shanda Games in extending superior quality, innovative game content for Chinese gamers.

Since its debut in 1987, the Final Fantasy franchise has attracted many devoted fans worldwide and, based on our experience and expertise in the China market, we are confident in the success of Final Fantasy XIV as well as other future collaborations with Square Enix in China.”

The game will allow players to explore Eorzea’s nations while following several disciples such as war, magic, land and hand. The unique gameplay of the title incorporates Armoury System, Character Creation, Lifestyle and Guildleves. Developed for Windows PC, the title is set to create a vibrant virtual world on the web in four different languages. Gamers can enter this terrain following the title’s launch later this month in Japan, Europe and North America.

Players located in China can immerse in the Final Fantasy XIV experience as the game will be made available to them through dedicated servers, separate from those for the Japanese, North American and European markets. The companies have stated that other details about the game including the release date will revealed later.
