Last month, we reported 2K Games’ disclosure of two new DLC packs for the soon-to-be released Mafia II. Now, a post on the official PlayStation blog has revealed that The Betrayal of Jimmy will be released exclusively in conjunction with the launch of Mafia II for PS3. Designed to offer a comprehensive Mafia II experience, this arcade-style DLC is expected to yield superior contentment for gamers.
Like Mafia II, the DLC too has been set in sandbox-style city encompassing elements such as shooting, driving, stealing and more from the original game. These elements have been amalgamated with a point-based caper accompanying leaderboards. Gamers can drive speedy cars, blow up stuff and accelerate vehicles at top speeds. They can bag points by drifting, kill combos and more.
Though the game inherits numerous features from the original title, it has been infused with some fresh elements as well. The points earned by players will flash on the screen along with icons such as arrows pointing towards target. This is said to be extremely different from the authentic 1940s and 1950s background of the title.
The DLC will weave a tale around Jimmy, who has been portrayed as a guy with dangerous looks. Walking with a shaven head, black attire and dark shades, Jimmy sets out on missions from different crime families in a bid to expose reality. While some families migrate from Mafia II to this DLC including the city of Empire Bay, new characters too have been introduced in this game.
Unlike in the case of Vito, Jimmy is said to have draped the role of a criminal which would allow gamers to play with different and advanced weapons right from the start. Spanning over 25 distinct missions, this downloadable edition will infuse a new experience for gamers. In addition, gamers can unlock several Trophies while playing The Betrayal of Jimmy although the developer has not allotted trophies specific to missions.
The new copies of Mafia II will comprise of a voucher which will enable players to download The Betrayal of Jimmy. Those who don’t have a new copy of the game can purchase the DLC for 9.99 USD (approx. Rs. 460). It has also been announced that The Jimmy’s Vendetta DLC will be released post-launch of Mafia II. However, the pricing details have been kept under wraps.
