February Release Dates for Dante’s Inferno Revealed

Dante’s Inferno is the game that takes players to the nine circles of hell. Earlier EA had said that the game would release for the PSP but not for the PC. Now Visceral Games, a studio of EA, has announced the release date for the much awaited Dante’s Inferno video game. The “hellish” action title arrives in February next year.

“The Divine Comedy is one of the most influential pieces of literature in the world and we have a great responsibility in re-imagining Dante Alighieri’s vivid descriptions of hell, and the themes of righteousness and redemption he explores,” stated Jonathan Knight, executive producer of Dante’s Inferno. “Our team is dedicated to delivering a stunning and highly polished interpretation of this classic to a new medium for a new generation everywhere this February.”

Players follow Dante through the nine circles of hell as he tries to free the soul of his beloved girlfriend. The game delivers fast-paced action merged with elements of adventure and a fully customizable combat system. EA’s version of Dante’s Inferno is also being made into a six-issue comic book series, in conjunction with DC Comics / Wildstorm. The first issue is set to be released on December 9, 2009.

Dante’s Inferno is scheduled to release to North America on February 9, 2010 and across Europe on February 12, 2010. The game is developed by Visceral Games for the PS3 and the Xbox 360, and by A2M for the PSP. Prices for the various platform versions are not known.
