“Konami is committed to providing original, quality entertainment through our diverse offering of console, handheld and downloadable content,” affirmed Anthony Crouts, VP of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment. “As a downloadable title, Zombie Apocalypse delivers all the fun and action of a console game at a fraction of the cost.”

The game pits players against a horde of zombies giving them a range of up to eleven deadly weapons which include assault riffles, flame throwers and even a teddy bear containing C4 explosives. Up to four players can fight the zombies, locally or over the internet and rescue survivors as they vie for the highest scores. A chainsaw is available to melee the attacking zombies at close quarters, to prevent players from crossing over to the undead. Additionally, players may even use the game’s environment to their advantage, crushing, burning and causing other environmental damages to the zombie masses.

The arcade-style shooter will push gamers to their very limits to see if they can survive 55 days of long and hard battles across seven environments. Players can re-live the apocalypse with 7 taxing unlockable game modes. Zombie Apocalypse is scheduled to be released in Q2 of 2009. No word on the prices yet though.
