Namco to revitalize Dead to Rights in 2009?

According to a preview in the March issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine, Namco has plans to revitalize their Dead to Rights franchise.

Dead to Rights

The new Dead to Rights game will be neither a sequel nor a prequel to the first Dead to Rights game released in 2002. Apparently it will be a retelling of the story of the first game. The deeply intuitive Alaskan malamute that featured in previous games will be replaced by a French Mastiff and Tom Hanks will play the uncompromising detective.

The magazine issue only talks about the game for the PS3 but 1UP reports the likelihood of an Xbox 360 version. The game will be rather plainly entitled ‘Dead to Rights’ and is being developed by Volatile Games, which previously brought us Reservoir Dogs in 2006. Dead to Rights is expected to be released in the later stages of 2009.
