Army of Two: The 40th Day is a third person shooter game which is set to debut early next year. We earlier reported about the release dates of the game. EA Montreal has now revealed that the score of Army of Two: The 40th Day will be created by well-known film composer Tyler Bates. He has previously been associated with popular film titles like Watchmen and 300. Bates is cooking up a delectable score to suit the immerse gamepley elements of the upcoming title.
Tyler Bates has over 50 movies and 15 years experience to his name and is known to be one of Hollywood’s most desired composers according to the company. His expertise is displayed in other movies besides 300 and Watchmen. Bates has created the score for films like Rob Zombie’s Halloween and Halloween 2, The Day the Earth Stood Still and Californication which is Showtime’s popular comedy series.
“Set in Shanghai in the middle of a major a disaster, Army of Two: The 40th Day dials up the action through a series of powerful scenes where players have to work together as a team to survive and escape the city. Tyler examined every part of the game and how players will move through the world to craft a score that truly represents their actions and the chaos unfolding around them,” commented Lewis James, Audio Director at EA Montreal.
“The 40th Day is one of the most intense games I’ve seen. The setting, characters and action in the game provided me the perfect backdrop to create an equally intense and dramatic score that compliments the gameplay,” stated Tyler Bates.
“Tyler Bates’ score for The 40th Day is not only a stellar addition to this tradition but takes the Army of Two franchise to a whole new level. Most of all, our collaboration with a composer of his caliber furthers EA’s continued commitment to creating the most groundbreaking new soundtracks in the entertainment industry,” explained Steve Schnur, Worldwide Executive of Music and Marketing.
Army of Two: The 40th Day is the sequel to the game Army of Two which released last year. The title sees private military contractors Rios and Salem fighting their way through the infested streets of Shanghai were their survival is integral. The duo will be faced with waves of misfortunes and enemies that are responsible for the ruin of the city. They must fend off the foes and try to escape the ill-fated Shanghai before its too late.
The upcoming title is expected to arrive on the gaming scene next year on January 8 and 10 in Europe and North America respectively. Army of Two: The 40th Day is fashioned for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PSP. The rating or the pricing has not yet been revealed by the company.
