Itagaki Gives his Views on Kamiya’s Bayonetta

The one thing that old rivals Tomonobu Itagaki and Hideki Kamiya have in common is that they have both parted ways with their long time employers and started anew. But apparently the feud isn’t over. At least not for Itagaki, who is known for his strong comments on other developers and video games.

In an interview with 1UP, Itagaki speaks rather abrasively about Kamiya’s Bayonetta saying, “If I made a similar game as a game I made in the company I quit, people would say, ‘What an idiot, can’t he make anything else?’ Well, that is more or less the opinion I have for, uh, that Bayo-something game.”

When asked what he thinks of the lead character in Bayonetta being covered in hair, Itagaki says, “Covered in hair, is she? I dunno, Mr. Kamiya must have a lot going through his head. Well, in any case, I would first recommend laser eye surgery. I’m sure he’s not that strapped for cash, right?”

Itagaki was accompanied by Team Ninja art director, Hiroaki Matsui, and in the interview they spoke about other developments as well, such as planning not to use Aerosmith music anymore and the unofficial name of the new team, Tokyo Vikings, which Itagaki apparently came up with over drinks.
