Left 4 Dead: Crash Course DLC Revealed by Valve

Left 4 Dead is the hugely popular video game from Valve. The company has recently drawn a lot of heat from their L4D fan base for announcing Left 4 Dead 2 so soon after the first. The main complaints are that fans have not seen the DLC promised by the developer. In some kind of a response to its fans, Valve has revealed more DLC for the Left 4 Dead community, entitled ‘Crash Course’.

Left 4 Dead Crash Course

The new DLC is set to pump in, new single player and multiplayer as well as co-operative gameplay, along with new dialogue from the original cast, new locations and a fiery climax. The ‘Crash Course’ downloadable content is said to put together the missing pieces between the beginning of the ‘Death Toll’ DLC and the end of the ‘No Mercy’ DLC.

“Since the release of Left 4 Dead last November, the design team has been excited about creating new experiences for this world and allowing players to do the same, by releasing much of our internal toolset, like the Survival Pack and Authoring Tools,” commented Gabe Newell. “We’re working with the fans toward the ongoing entertainment value of the product.”

Crash Course contains a C-operative Campaign and Survival maps. But the main aim of the new DLC is to offer a complete Versus mode experience “in just 30 minutes”. There is even a recharge timer for infected teammates, and the item spawn behaviour has been modified to add a greater balance to the gameplay.

Left 4 Dead has sold close to 3 million copies worldwide since its release in November 2008. Left 4 Dead: Crash Course is scheduled for a September 2009 release. The DLC will be free for the PC and will cost 560 Gamer points for the Xbox 360 on Xbox Live.
